Hallo Gexozoid,

I'm asking you for help concerning your great EW Napoleonic Mod for ACFB, because it doesn't run on my Notebook.

The original ACFB works fine, I can play it without problems. Then I installed the EW-Mod (V3_TEST and dead body) as described and now I get the prominent "unable to initiate direct draw"-error. Renaming the video-folder doesn't solve the problem.

I updated my graphics drivers and DirectX (from 9.0 to 9.2). My Graphic card is called "Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller". DirectX Diag said for both versions, that everything works fine (OpenGL is not available, is that necessary?). Again, the original ACFB has no problem.

I downloaded the Mods several times, with and without using a download manager.

Any other solution I found in the forums didn't work. I'm quite desperate now.

Again, the error occurs only after I install the Mods.

Do you have any ideas?

Are you sure you installed the mod correctly?

Did you try reinstalling the game and the mod?

Yes I installed the game and the Mods several times, as you described it in the forum:

- install the game
- copy the ACFB-Folder and rename it
- download the v3_Test - Mod and copy the files inside the v3_Test - Folder into the renamed copy of the ACFB-Folder
- do the same with the dead body Mod

I went offline and shut down the Virus-, Firewall- and any other tools I don't need before installing the Game and the Mods.

Trying to start EW with a desktop-shortcut to dmcr.exe brings up no video and the error. Using the dmcr.exe directly in the folder has no success either.

Do you have any suggestions?

since the EW mod still doesn't work, I would like to ask some questions, perhaps thy will lead to some conclusions.

My graphic card is an 64 MB onbaord controller. The mod works fine on 64 MB AGP cards. Are there any Bios adjustments concerning RAM-usage I can try?

Is the mod using more resources than ACFB?

If you have already tried to reinstall the whole game and the mod i suggest the following.

Try redownloading the mod using some download manager like flash get or similar and reinstall the mod again with the fresh download.

If you wish to play Single player and not mutliplayer try downloading the FV at http://www.moddb.com/mods/european-warfare-napoleonica

Version3 test that doesnt work for you is used by hawks for the historical battles, so you wont be able to play with them but you will be able to play with other players with the FV and in Single player against PC.

that was a good idea, but I have the same results as by using the v3_TEST mod. Does it make sense to post the DDrwa.logs?
